Cleo and her daddy were once a match made in heaven. They did everything together--she even went to work with her daddy. Then her daddy died, and no one in the family wanted Cleo. Lonely and so confused, yearning for the man who had raised her from a puppy, her fate had been sealed. She was headed to the SPCA where she already had three strikes against her--her age, her breed, and the fact that she would be considered an "owner surrender" and as such, did not have to go up for adoption by law. She could be killed immediately after the paper work was signed.
Meanwhile, one of our previous adopters was watching the last Oprah show on May 25th. Oprah mentioned finding your purpose and platform, and once you find it, to get about the business of doing it. Lucky for Cleo, Oprah inspired this woman to start fostering dogs for our rescue. When we passed around Cleo's story on the internet and facebook, this sweet family stepped up and said they wanted to help Cleo. Oprah is just ONE of Cleo's guardian angels.
Cleo is a well mannered, polite, sweet, obedient girl. She listens to your every word, and pouts when you correct her. She gets along well with submissive, calm male dogs. Young, hyper dogs are just too much for her. She is in her golden years, just turning 8, and shouldn't have to deal with the youngsters! However, she adores children, and loves all humans. In one day, she was taken away from everything she has ever known, taken to the vet for her vaccinations, taken to her new foster home, and got a much needed bath. She took in all in stride! If you are looking for a calm, obedient, lovable, loyal friend, this is your girl! We only hope that her daddy is in Heaven, smiling down on her.
